Saturday: Stretching and Scrimmaging

The CPA Patriot football team held a Saturday scrimmage at Red Bridge Baptist Church. The scrimmage simulated game conditions, complete with chains, down markers, etc. Both the offense and defense showed bright spots while revealing areas in need of improvement.

The practice began with an extended period of stretching exercises. In the photo above, Rebekah Burton leads the team in a series of stretches. From the looks on the faces of some of the players, they'd rather have been running "Dirty Thirties."

This week, the Patriots will make final preparations for Friday night's Jamboree to be held in Lamoni, Iowa. The Patriots and three other teams will participate in the event, which will have the format of a series of round-robin scrimmages. The jamboree should give the coaches a good idea of which of its game segments need the most work heading toward the season opener.
